The Blessing

The event everyone came for was the blessing of our sweet Pierce Olsen Romney. It was a beautiful church service and the blessing Mike gave to Pierce was so sweet and inspired. He is a special spirit and I am so excited to see who he becomes.
Mike blessed him that he would see the needs of others, be kind, be able to recognize the Spirit guiding his life, that he would love learning and education, that he would love his brothers, honor his parents, that he would serve a mission, and marry the woman he loves in the temple and so much more.
It's interesting as he gave him that blessing filled with all our hopes and dreams for him, I couldn't help but realize that these are God's hopes for him too. There is so much potential and light in these little ones and I feel so blessed to be a part of their lives, to help them figure out to share and express that light what a tremendous responsibility and blessing.

The "Cottage"

I took a crazy amount of pictures. To see it all, click here

We feel so lucky that Kelly's family is here in Michigan because we get to see Mitch and Kelly as least a few times each year!!! There is something so great about seeing family over the holidays. The Tuesday after Christmas we headed to Grand Haven to see Kelly and Mitch at Kelly's dad's house. Her parents are so sweet and kind to us. We feel lucky that they have made us a part of their family here.

After eating lunch with the gang, we headed to her parents' lake "cottage" on Lake Michigan. It is a beautiful home that is light, airy and perfectly decorated. Their goal of bringing the beach inside was positively met. There was sleet and whipping wind when we arrived, so we snuggled in and spent time getting to know my darling new niece, Madeline. Kelly and Mitch are such wonderful and loving parents...watching them with their little girl was a real treat. I don't remember being that relaxed or that competent with my first baby. The boys and Kelly's nephew, Harry, had a blast playing game after game, the Wii and watching a movie. Tons of fun. They all slept perfectly in the "bunk" room.

We had an amazing time at the beach cottage!!!

Christmas Eve!

To see the full post click here

Christmas Eve was always an exciting night for me full of people, presents, and chaos so having it all alone just didn't seem right. We invited anyone sticking around Ann Arbor to meet us at the church for lasagna, bread, salad, dessert, the candy bar game, a Christmas story and the reading of Luke 2.

I'm so grateful that 6 families and our 2 missionaries could join us. Having everyone together made it feel like Christmas!
